History of the Institute
Ignorance disappears when knowledge appears and darkness disappears when light enters. These words of Basavanna are always true. Knowledge is a weapon to man by which he becomes strong.
This weapon destroys the darkness that encircles man and helps to lighten the sacred flame of knowledge.
There were some high schools here and there in the North Karnataka (including Belgaum, Dharawad, Bijapur and Karawar districts).
People had to go to Pune, Sangli, Mumbai etc for higher education. But as they were financially weak they were deprived of the education.
They suffered a lot by the dark hands of illiteration. Such desirous children had to endeavor a lot.
